The Cultural Association "Il Castello" is entirely made up of voluntary workers. Founded on December 29, 1993, it replaced the former "Amici del Castello", born on February 12, 1992.
It is a non-profit organization put on the regional register of voluntary services by decree of the President of Tuscany nº 1124 (October 4, 1994).
Its chief aims are the restoration and promotion of the historical, artistic and cultural heritage in Lari's territory and the organization of cultural events such as exhibitions, conventions and conferences.
Currently the main activity centres on the Vicar's Castle, seat of the association. Thanks to an agreement with Lari's Town Hall, it runs the guided tours and the Municipal Library. Recently it has been charged with the rearrangement and the opening to the public of the municipal Historic Archives.
The association is not made up of supporting members but only of voluntary workers, who give a little of their spare time for free and altruistically. The association is open to whomever is interested. No membership fee is required. The voluntary worker will be insured by right and will take part in the decisions through the social organs. Considering the variety of the activities, each person will undertake to do what he/she likes most. People interested should inquire with the secretary.
